Educational Technology Training

K-12 Teacher Training
Project Overview
This training was focused on training 3-12 teachers and administrators in two educational software applications: JAMF Teacher and Apple Classroom. Both applications revolve around monitoring and implementing meaningful interactions with student-based iPads.

Audience: K-12 Educators, Administration, Faculty

Responsibilities: Graphics, Storyboards, Instructor Guide, Evaluations

Tools Used: Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, Canva, QuickTime Player, iMovie, Canvas (LMS)
Analysis
I was approached to create this training as a means to introduce these two applications to the entire staff of a K-12 private school. This particular school has implemented a 1-to-1 iPad initiative and holds a certification as one of the few fully Distinguished Apple Schools. While the entire staff varies differently on their expertise in technology, I was asked to create both a synchronous and asynchronous training.

The synchronous portion would be provided at the beginning of the school year, while the asynchronous portion would be added to the Canvas LMS for the staff to visit on their own time as a troubleshooting mechanic.
Design
The school administration and technology department wanted a training that was both given in person and then available for everyone if they were either not present the day of training or wanted to review the material at a later time. It was decided that the best method was to develop the training using the GEL (Guided Experiential Learning) Model. Learners would act as both students and teachers and practice using both apps in real time after an initial guided tour will be given. The course was also developed, recorded, and scripted in the Canvas LMS to later distribution. An instructional guide was created to ensure what was instructed in person was consistent with what was online.
Develop
Most of the training was built and written in Google Workspace and later exported to Microsoft Word for final formatting. The graphics were completed in Canva and all screen capturing was done in QuickTime Player and edited in iMovie. Storyboards and scripts were written and approved before any recordings were done to ensure consistancy between synchronous and asynchronous learning.
Implement
The in person portion of the training was given to approximately 100+ staff and faculty members during pre-planning for the 2021-2022 school year. Teachers were walked through both applications initially but were then allowed to explore the rest of the training as I troubleshot any issues or problems.
Evaluation
At the end of the training a checklist with all major components were given to both the faculty and administration to be used both as a detailed walkthrough (for faculty) and also as an assessment tool (for administration).

The plan is to use this checklist at the end of the year to see how many faculty retained how to operate both applications.
Deliverables
Instructional Treatment Plan
This contains the objectives, methodologies, settings, and any other constraints that would appear during the training. This is the first step in the design process as it lets the client know all the expectations about the training and then agree to them (or request any changes) before development begins.
Instructional Guide
This instructional guide is to be used by whoever is leading the training or whoever will monitor the asynchronous portion of the training. It is a detailed script of how to navigate through the training and each part of the application as you get to it.
"Can You" Checklist
An assessment that can be used both by administrators and faculty as a means to ensure they are doing all the steps correctly post training. Each item in the checklist provides a walkthrough as to how to complete that specific action.
